The ‘national standard’ means
state and independent Schools
averaged together. The exam
scripts are marked externally
by the examining board. Level
3 and below represents
an achievement below the
national standard expected
for most 11 year olds.
Level 4 represents the level
of achievement which is expected
of most 11 year old children.
Level 5 represents
an achievement above the
nationally expected
standard for most 11 year
olds.
